My friend and I booked a Lares trek with SAP. The vendor spoke a really good english and gave us very good explanations about the trip, he made us dream (campsite next to a beautiful lake to enjoy a beautiful view at the wake up, sharing with small communities ...) They told us 3 people had already booked but we ended up being only the 2 of us. The guide spoke a really basic english which made the discussions and explanations very difficult (most of the time he didn’t understand our questions) The guide didn’t really help us to share with the communities, we were not even introduced to the families where we were staying, we had to walk arround the small village and try to get interactions by ourselves. The route of the trek was not the one that the vendor told us, we allways camped in a kind of garage or small garden without any view, far from what the vendor let us expect. The way back from machu picchu is without guide, they told us for our transfer to Cuzco someone will wait for us with a sign outside the train station at Ollantaytambo, but nobody was there. We had to wait in the dark and cold, finally we talked to a taxi driver who accepted to call the travel agency for us. The fault seems to come from the collectivo who were supposed to take us, after the company called them, they came to us and we could see our names were on their phone, but they forgot to add us to their list. Finally they asked us to wait for another 30 minutes for the next train to get more people, which we refused. We had to negociate with the agency to arrange a taxi to bring us back. To sum up, the trek itself was nice but the quality of the agency is really not enough for the price (500/pers. Including machu pichu ticket &train)
