Wak'a is rated 3 out of 5 in the category museums and institutions. Read and write reviews about Wak'a. Wak'a is a museum without a building or a collection. In Lima, a city of over 9 million inhabitants, only 521,000 people visited the city’s museums in 2015, and a large proportion of those were tourists. In order to change this we need to offer more engaging experiences. And we need to innovate beyond brick-and-mortar museums to offer these experiences at a whole new scale. Wak'a does so by taking new heritage and culture experiences directly into the places where people go about their lives. And we partner with a wide range of organizations to make sure that we can do so at scale. So far we have created pop up museums and interactive workshops in an unusual range of locations - from a camp for people displaced by natural disaster to a popular weekend leisure destination in the city. We are currently looking to collaborate with like-minded people and organisations to scale up our work in Lima and beyond. If you'd like be part of this effort, please do get in touch:
