It's a great place to get a full shot of Ollantaytumbo. The storehouses are nice too look at.

Great view from here to the town and to the ruins, for me it's a better place than the ollantaytambo ruins. Less people, better view.

A nice morning hike - not long, but very steep. This means it is not as crowded or busy as a lot of other archeaological sites, which is a nice change from the more popular places. That doesn't mean no one comes, but you won't have your elbow jostled. Except possibly in a couple of spots on the trail up where it can be narrow. :) Very much worth the work for a close up look at the site and for the view. If you couldn't get tickets to climb Huayna Picchu this might satisfy a little of the craving. Although the hike up is not as narrow or as long, the character of the hike, the steepness, and the payoff view at the end are the same idea.

What more can I say; A fairly private and quick hike that gives way to incredible ruins and an unmatched view of Ollantaytambo. Seeing what this hike offers and how it costs approximately s/0. Its amazing how people flock to the Ollantaytambo ruins and skip over this place.

There are two archaeological sites on the edge of Ollantaytambo. Pinkuylluna is the less touristy of these. It's in a dramatic setting up a steep hill. There are constructed stone steps, but they are a little rough in places, and there are steep drops nearby. The ruins are interesting to walk through, and there are stunning views down to the town of Ollantaytambo. You can follow the arrows up to the main ruins, and there are also side-tracks and a loop track which are less developed but which we found worthwhile and interesting. Two hours would be enough to visit here, starting from the main square of Ollantaytambo.
