Life changing experiences are not typically easy, this is certainly the case with ayahuasca. This medicine is not for everyone but if you’re ready to embrace and overcome trauma or learn to be a more compassionate person I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. Ayahuasca leaves you quite vulnerable and it is critical that you take it in a safe and trusting environment to reap its true benefits. Jim and his staff could not have been kinder or more attentive. Any anxieties I had regarding the events to come were quickly put at ease as I set foot on the campus. The center was beautiful, clean, and calming. Though my 9 day retreat was arduous to say the least I would not trade the experience for the world. The people I met at the retreat have become some of my closest friends and continue to help with my healing. I will absolutely return in the future.

I went to the Hummingbird retreat several years ago and am still feeling the positive effects. Helpful with depression especially. No longer need medication. The place and the people were wonderful. Still maintain contact with some who also have found the experience to be very positive.
Do not be fooled by the good reputation of this place. The owner, Jim, is a very rude, sarcastic and impatient man who doesn't actually care for the people at his retreat. You are not made to feel comfortable or as though he will be there to look out for you, instead Jim makes you feel stupid for asking questions or asking for help. The experience and Ayahuasca trips was definitely ruined because of his lack of hospitality and negative attitude. He calls himself a "healer" which is a joke considering how he treats people. I hope people think twice before booking this retreat and go somewhere else where the owner cares about your wellbeing and safety.
The experience and healing I had at the Hummingbird Centre surpassed my expectations. Coming back home a week ago, I realized how I have changed (for the best) after the 12 days retreat, and the changes are still ongoing. I chose this Ayahuasca centre because I was seeking an authentic, human scale (the number of guests is very small compared to other centers) and truly healing oriented retreat. Some larger centers offer a variety of medecines sometimes attracting curious people who whish to explore, but Hummingbird Centre focus is on the healing, for which a range of medecine truly is not necessary. Besides the facilities are great and the land is beautiful. I greatly recommand it!!!
I spent 9 days here in June 2018. My first Ayahuasca experience and very glad that I chose Hummingbird Retreat. Beautiful place amazing food and friendly staff. The ceremonies and shaman Manain where safe professional and extremely insightful.
I was a guest in July of 2018. It changed my life. I have life long friends from the people I met and Jim Davis is an amazing owner that is absolutely focused on the well being of his guests. I had done research on this experience for 12 months prior but would have never able to experence it the way I did without Jim and Montaheen (spelling is incorrect), the Shaman. Montaheen is one of the most amazing men I have ever met. HE UNDERSTANDS what you need as a Shaman! I want to thank you for an amazing EXPERIENCE. IT changed my life for the 1,000,000% better. Jim is a Super Hero!
Loved It!!!! I felt like I was at home.It was a great experience with beautiful people and the best caring environment. My experience was full on, with lots of self-discoveries and strength testing. I worked on my childhood through the whole time I was there and I must say, that it helped me a lot to understand myself much better. Beautiful Aya nurtured me through the painful moments in my memories and brought me up to light again :) And you know what, no matter how small the discovery is, it still affects us all in the most unexpected and mysterious ways. I'm going back in May, as I believe there is still a lot to learn for me, Jim I hope there will be a place for me :) Oh and you said " Ask and you shall receive" ...
