Avoid shopping here - dishonest staff. On our first day in Cusco my husband brought a pair of gloves here for 40 soles. As he was putting his wallet away in his bag the shopkeeper did some kind of slight of hand and kept hold of the gloves behind her/out of sight. Due to feeling rough from altitude sickness and being tired after a long journey to Cusco we left the shop without noticing he didn’t have the gloves. After going to put them on the next morning on the way to Machu Picchu and realising he’d left them in the Outdoor Shop we went back to retrieve them when we returned to Cusco the following day. The same lady was on the shop floor as when we had brought the gloves but she claimed not to remember us or what we had brought. She then showed us the book where she keeps a record of the transactions and (surprise surprise) there was no record of the cash payment for the gloves, only a few visa card payments. She had kept the cash and the gloves, and conveniently made no record of either. Avoid shopping here and supporting a dishonest business. Plenty of other shops and markets in Cusco and surrounding towns where you can pick up reasonably priced outdoor wear.
