I recently went on the 5 day, 4 night hiking trek on the trail of the Apu. The guide was friendly, helpful, and super accommodating. I greatly appreciated the tour company's commitment to the local community. The staff that accompanied us were amazing. I cannot stress that enough! They made the trek the best possible. The cook at the lodges worked pure magic. On our way back, the guide pointed out people's homes and introduced us to some of the little children running around their family's farm. Overall, a fantastic experience!! Thank you so much! Please note: the trail is difficult, especially given the high elevation. Take care to acclimate beforehand and bring proper gear and medications (I had some nausea from the elevation on day 1, dramamine saved me). The lodges are nice, but rustic with no electricity or heat in the rooms and it gets COLD. It is a good idea to bring microspikes. We got some snow, and I was super grateful to have them. For the majority of the trip I didn't really need hiking poles, but day 4 to rainbow mountain they were definitely needed/appreciated (that was the day we had snow and some of the downhill parts were slick and dicey). Bring many layers, and waterproof gear. Do those things and it will be one of the most beautiful hikes you'll ever experience!
