The convent is a beautiful structure exemplifying colonial architecture and the ever present Moorish influence. It has two large internal courtyards studded with paintings on its walls. It's serene and peaceful. The library and catacombs are all worth a see. Beautifully preserved.

Nice place, but very disappointed to find that the bell tower is closed earlier than the rest of the museum. There was no information about separate hours either on the sign, or from the the ticket booth. I would not have bought the ticket so late in the afternoon if I realized I couldn’t go to the bell tower. Was told I would have to pay again if I wanted to come climb it the next day. Nope.
I would’ve liked to have spent more time here but alas we were on a tight schedule. This is the fourth church built on this site. Earthquakes in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries destroyed the previous ones. I know it’s ‘just another church’ but there was something magical about this one and was well worth a visit. Enjoy
A biblioteca é beeem linda.
