We had an amazing time at this museum. It is very cheap in price only, there is a wealth of interesting artefacts to discover inside. Even without the exhibition the monastery would be worth looking at. I personally especially enjoyed seeing how the monks lived and would like to thank the super friendly guy at the reception (Friday Nov. 8) who took the time to personally explain some instruments and share some interesting facts.

There are several and varied stuff displayed on the museums, but they're not really taking good care of them. Some of the shelves are dusty and there's not good, updated information available for every item. They let us go upstairs and have a nice view of the city, though. The entry fee is 10 soles. The library, which have some catholic prohibited books, is being restored, so these days (last week of June 2018), the entrance to the library is not allowed.

A hidden gem in Arequipa. Only 10 soles. Wide variety of displays and a great view of Misty if the weather is clear. Road was under construction when I went (Feb 7, 2018) but don't let that stop you from going.

An understated and fascinating monastery across the river, with a charming library and a beautiful courtyard. Peace and quiet can be found here unlike in St. Catalina. We enjoyed our afternoon here.

Amazing museum, with pre columbian collection, Amazonian artefacts and fauna. Library is something special. Highly recommended!

Well worth the visit for the cheap price. You have an amazing view over the city, the old library looks awesome and they have also have a chapel and rooms about Inca's and the Amazon rain forest. They treat the monastery however as a low budget, because you have to switch the lights on and off yourself. And they are closed between 12am and 3pm.

I spent 7 months backpacking in South America. I spent one evening in this monastery turned museum attached to an active church complete with bell tower you can climb. If there were one place I could click my heels and return to, from my entire trip, it would be this meseum. The library and museum numerous rooms are time capsules. I will not attempt to describe what you will find inside, the treasures are too vast.
