My first ever all inclusive retreat and what a treat it was. My daughter and I just finished a 10 day visit to Tambo Illusion for the 8-day liver detox . Johanne and Armando were wonderful hosts as they showed us this jungle retreat that they have created. They have built a little paradise set on the hillside with jungle all around. We saw toucannets and monkeys daily as they moved across the property. Johannes care and support through the detox week made it easy to focus on letting go and just detoxing and relaxing. Johanne made letting go of caffeine, alcohol, gluten and dairy possible and actually quite easy. Despite the foreboding weather forecasts of 80-100% rain the entire length of our stay, our days were glorious with sun and rain and clouds. You could count on the weather changing every few hours. Many a day we ended up in the natural pond above the tambos, swimming and birdwatching on the floats. The 8 days includes Reiki massage and yoga with many suggestions for other ways to find relaxation, grounding and release. The food was delicious and nourishing and filling. I will be back !!

A beautiful nature conservation reserve located 15 minutes away from Tarapoto. It is a wellness retreat center where different programs are offered. There is a gorgeous natural lagoon to swim in, a trail in the protected forest where one feels envelopped by the lush vegetation. The food served is healthy and delicious. The installations are rustic, quaint and comfortable. One highlight is simply swinging in a hammock observing the monkeys go about their business!! And guests are greeted by the owners who make you feel welcome and at home. Johanne and Armando speak English and Spanish. Tambo Ilusion has won TripAdvisor's 2019 Excellence Award as well as 2015, 2016 and 2017's!! Guests love the nourishing experience they have here and with reason. They offer an authentic experience.

Tambo Ilusion is an incredibly magical place. I returned for the third time in March 2021. I traveled there with my mom and we completed the 8-day liver cleanse and stayed for a few nights afterwards. Johane and Armando were incredible hosts for our experience. We were well-taken care of throughout. Also, the food was delicious: healthy, fresh and colorful. I came to Tambo Ilusion for the first time in 2015 for a yoga retreat, then in 2016 for the liver cleanse and loved it so much that I have been plotting to return ever since, this time I brought my mom! Since my last visit there have been beautiful additions to the Tambos. The porches on each cabin have two hammocks and are screened in to protect from any bugs in the evening. Additionally, each Tambo now has its own bathroom, with a lovely shower and spacious amenities. I was very satisfied and relaxed throughout our stay. We attended relaxing yoga classes in the wonderful mallorca. We walked in the jungle, swam at the lagoon, visited Johannes beautiful horse and mule to watch the sunset, and watched monkeys and hummingbirds from our hammocks. I highly recommend Tambo Ilusion for a relaxing jungle getaway. I always feel clearer, lighter and healthier after staying here, and hope again, to one day return. Not only were we well taken care of, but Johanne has a wealth of knowledge about health and nutrition from food to relaxation and meditation techniques. It is always a joy to learn from and share ideas with her.
