I would like to give Dr. San Martín a five star recommendation. I am an American visiting Lima and I saw Dr. San Martín for a minor dermatological issue. I saw Dr. San Martín because of a very good recommendation. I want to congratulate myself for choosing so wisely a highly competent dermatologist. Being a native English speaker who speaks conversational Spanish, Dr. San Martín speaks excellent English and he could (and did) explain the procedure to me in English and this always helps the patient to understand exactly what the doctor is going to do. The location in Lima is in a safe and secure area with adequate parking. The office itself is located in a modern office building. The staff and nurses were professional and courteous. To sum up this review....if I could give Dr. San Martín six stars I would do it. When I am in Lima again and if I need dermatological treatment....I would not consider anyone else but Dr. San Martín.

This review has been updated based on the doctor’s comments. The Good: The doctor speaks fluent English. Not only is he a dermatologist, his father was also a dermatologist. He examined me and my wife and was able to perform several minor treatments using liquid nitrogen and electrical stimulation. It took less than 15 minutes. His exam room was modern and comparable to an American doctor. The Bad: the address is easy to find but the suite is hard to find. There is no directory and you have to go to the 4th floor where there is a sign “Dr TB”. How are you supposed to know that this is Derma San Martin? The receptionist doesn’t speak a word of English. Nada. She scheduled us when there was a room full of patients. We had to wait 45 minutes to see the doctor. By then, we were the only patients left They only take Visa. But we were told that US dollars were OK. She was offering a very unfavorable exchange rate. I told her “no bueno”. So she called a money changer to come to the office. We waited 30 minutes and finally I told her we would accept her rate. She started taking bills and coins out of her own purse and it was clear that she was going to short change us. So my wife left the office, exchanged money, and came back I paid her in soles. That whole process took an hour. The fee was 300 soles for each consultation for each of us. Some minor services were included in this fee, it’s about what we have. paid in the past. On a prior trip, we paid less than 200 US to a plastic surgeon in Lima and got more work done. That included laser removal of brown spots and surgical removal of some moles. However, we really didn’t needs as much this time.
The doctor, his staff, and the office were all A-1. Highly, highly recommended.
