China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is China's largest oil and gas producer and supplier, the third largest company in the world in terms of revenue, one of the world's major oilfield service providers and a globally reputed contractor in engineering construction. Based in China, CNPC has oil and gas assets and interests in Africa, Central Asia-Russia, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and other regions. CNPC has been present in Peru since 1993 in Blocks VII/VI of Talara, Piura, dedicated to the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. It is the only onshore operator which has achieved horizontal drilling, reaching a depth of 10,840 feet.
