This was such an amazing experience. The guides were amazing, informative, and friendly. The rafting was pretty incredible with a view that never got old. We experienced so many awesome things. The hikes were great and provided some amazing views. When we visited villages along the river We saw the importance of the river to the people who lived there. The trip was so incredible that I got a tattoo when I returned home to help remember the trip. I hope to return again.

HIGHLY recommend this amazing- Ben and the team were the perfect hosts and guides to show us the wonderful river Maranon! This trip was way beyond just rafting: waterfalls, local schools, surrounding villages, amazing cage and awesome people to name a few! If you’re thinking about it just do it- you won’t regret it!

Rafting the Grand Canyon of the Amazon with Marañon Experience crew was one of the best trips of my life. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate. It was clear that safety was a priority but fun is what abounded. From hanging out with the locals of the villages along the river, buying coconuts and fresh cacao blocks, to nights under a blanket of stars in an amphitheatre of natural rocks, this trip allows guests to experience Peru in ways that few visitors ever do.

A group of us from the U.S. did the "heart of the Maranon" multiday trip at high water. Ben and Luigi are experts on the Maranon and are fighting hard to save it. Their passion for the river and people that live along it might just be what saves it from being dammed. They are trying to build a sustainable tourism economy, and are doing it the RIGHT way. We met and ate meals with super friendly villagers, bought fresh local produce, and shared stories and beers. The rapids were super fun, and with the knowledge of Ben and Luigi, good lines were had by all. They were great about suggesting "spicy" lines for the experts in our group and sneak lines for others. Like almost any multiday raft trip, however, the rapids are really secondary, and what this trip is really about is the solitude, scenery, and side canyons. There are TONS of opportunities for exploring. A highlight was a side hike with pictographs, dozens of natural water slides that we slid down on our butts, followed by waterfalls that we rappeled down. Outrageously fun. Pre and post trip accomodations were great, food was excellent, and they are down for customizing the trip to fit your group. Their rental gear is up to challenge, but pack light if you have a large group. Our gear boat was loaded a bit heavy. Can't reccomend this company more. Go! You'll be helping to save a river and having fun in the process. Also, highly recommend spending time in Chachapoyas before or after. Great base camp for Kuelap, Gocta, Revash, and much more. Jose at Chacapoyas Backpackers Hostel can set up package deals that are a great value, and he is also incredibly friendly with great english and local knowlege. Together, the raft trip and Chacapoyas make for 2 great weeks (or more) in this amazing region.

Un espectacular rio, de mucho caudal, en su recorrido divide al Dpto de Cajamarca con Amazonas.
