This lodge is staffed by the local village a few minutes walk upstream. There is mosquito netting everywhere, and good mosquito netting tucked under the beds. The shower is ambient temperature, you might find it a little cold. The walls of the rooms do not go up to the ceiling, so you will be heard if you make noise in your room. There's a dining area with hot water and covered filtered water and some herbal tea bags. Electricity from a loud generator a few hours each night. There's another common area with some couches and some hammocks. You will still find mosquitos, spiders, and other insects in your rooms. The staff are friendly, speak okay enough English to communicate, and are from the local town. They have some knowledge of the pre-spanish traditional practices and medicinal plants. There's not too much wildlife in the surrounding area, but you'll reliably see caimans, birds, lots of frogs, and probably some monkeys. There's also a monkey and some sloths in the nearby village. The village is actually quite a happy place. There is no cell service and the jungle will be loud at night. There are lots of mosquitos when the sun rises or sets. The guides will try their best to fulfill your wishes. They'll introduce you to the local village and shamans if youre curious. This is a somewhat remote place, but you'll still see boats for the other lodges in the area. The food was rice, veggies, local fish and chicken; wasn't bad. This is not a comfortable place. Neither is it too remote or virgin untouched rainforest; there is a village and loud motor boats and generators. Importantly, there is lots of plastic and trash. You don't see as much trash as nauta, which kinda looks like a landfill, but the kids still drop the plastic wrappers of their sweets wherever. Don't think of this as an eco lodge or a model of environmental sustainability, though it does seem economically sustainable for the local village.
