Beautiful Fortaleza or Fortress, we purchased tickets in advance because it was recommended. The Fortress is open only on the weekends. We had a fantastic time here, the Royal Guards were very nice and willing to take pictures with us. In most CASTLES around world is not allowed . This Fortress was built in during the colony years to defend the city of Lima and mayor surrounding areas close to it. It became the mayor center to repel any mayor naval attacks coming from Pirates and other invasion of foreign countries. I want to thanks our body guard for suggesting coming here, thank you my friend . I want to also thanks the Royal Guards \u200d️ for being so nice to us. GRACIAS, Sincerely, TONY MORA.

Good place to visit. Part of the Monumental tour in Callao. It used to be a learning experience, guides will go into details and meaning of the place. Longer visits. Now it is just a tour visit, quick enough to visit the place, but short from the learning experience. Google all you can about this place, so you come prepared to understand what you see. It still operates as a military base.

The Real Filipe Fortress was built to defend the main Peruvian port and the city of Lima from pirates and corsairs during colonial times. The grounds are well preserved and spotlessly clean. All the information was interesting and introduce the history of the place and Peru.

This is a real historic place with lots of stories and fun for kids and grownups. For kids this can be a really fun and teach full place. Don't hesitate to take them any time of the year specially if they are learning Peruvian history. "Touching" this piece of history will always left a strong memory that will consolidate the readings and classroom lections. For grownups is recommended the night tours, make sure to book accordingly because this is just provided with previous booking. Prices are totally affordable even for foreigners. Recommended to spend a couple more hours after tour finished for pictures and listening more stories about this place.
