Beautiful walk up the hill from Cuzco town square. Breathtaking views from the top.

Great view of the city. We went at night. Lt's a bit scary because place is dark. But place seemed safe. If going at night or late afternoon masks sure you take a taxi. Out was PE 17 each way.

No doubt anyone that has been to Rio will not view this with much enthusiasm but for someone (like me) that hasn't, this is well worth the effort. It can be reached by walking up from Plaza Nazarenas or as in my case, a taxi (15 Soles) from central Cusco. The views over Cusco are worth the effort. I arrived earlyish (9:30am) as the inevitable 'hawkers' were setting up and apart from one tour group (that left as quickly as it arrived), I was alone. Along with the "Christ statue" there were 3 crosses, as in the Biblical crucifixion. Just down a path from the statue is the Inca site of Sacsayhuamán and this can be viewed in its entirety by paying an entrance fee, although a small part can be explored (for free) before walking down the path to Cusco. You then come out in plaza Nazarenas.

Recommended to get a taxi there (cost me 15 Soles from my hotel in Cusco centre) THEN walk down via the Inca 'path' which comes out on Plaza Nazarenas. The path down also passes by Sacsayhuaman although you need to pay to explore the full extent of this site. People that have been to Rio will not be impressed with Cusco's version but I was suitably impressed especially with the views and seemingly fresher air! I also found very few people there (before 10am) and the inevitable stall holders were only just setting up, presumably waiting for the tour groups yet to arrive.

Watch out for agressive dogs when climbing up to cristo blanco statue. Girlfriend got bitten and getting vaccinations is very difficult, it can potentially ruin your holiday.
