In addition to seeing incredible Inca monuments and tasting delicious Peruvian cuisine, I recommend that you visit Señora Patty’s music store near the San Pedro market on Calle Santa Clara. This is a little-known landmark in the city of Cusco that sells CDs and DVDs featuring native Andean music (for example, huayno) and other popular genres. This shop is truly historical as it has been in business for over 40 years; Sra. Patty, the owner, is super knowledgeable and friendly and will explain to you the various types of Peruvian music and help you find the music you are looking for. I have fond memories of walking by “Discos Horizonte” and hearing Andean music being blasted from the shop. I am so happy to see her store being around for so long and it’s great to support local businesses like this one. Go say hi to Señora Patty and ask her about the wonderful world of huayno!!
